In Kerbella hat sich ein ähnlicher Vorfall ereignet, welcher abermals Feindseligkeiten zwischen Persien und der Türkei herbeiführen könnte. Ein persischer Derwisch war von Schiras nach Kerbella gekommen und hatte sich dort für den zwölften Imam ausgegeben, welcher nach dem Glauben einer persischen Sekte erwartet wird, um die Bekehrung der Welt zu vollenden. Er suchte seine göttliche Sendung durch einen verfälschten Koran zu beweisen. Die Anhänger dieser Sekte erkannten ihn an, fielen über die Andersgläubigen her und richteten ein großes Blutbad an. Redschib-Pascha, Gouverneur von Bagdad, ließ den Derwisch einfangen, nach Bagdad bringen und vor ein Gericht, von ihm aus türkischen und persischen Ulamas zusammengesetzt, stellen. Sein Koran wurde als verfälscht anerkannt und er der Gotteslästerung schuldig befunden, weshalb ihn der fanatische Redschib-Pascha sogleich mit dem Tode bestrafen wollte. Die persischen Ulemas protestierten dagegen aufs energischste und berichteten sogleich nach Konstantinopel, um die Hinrichtung des Derwisch zu verhindern. Redschib-Pascha ist derselbe Gouverneur von Bagdad, welcher durch die blutige Erstürmung der den Persern heiligen Stadt Kerbella vor einigen Jahren die Hauptveranlassung zu der Differenz zwischen der Pforte und Persien, welche noch nicht ganz ausgeglichen ist, gegeben hat.

[The "Deutsche Allgemeine Zeitung" was published from 1843 to 1879 by F. A. Brockhaus in Leipzig (the same publishing house which used to publish one of the two main German Encyclopaedias), not to be confused with the "Deutsche Allgemeine Zeitung" which appeared from 1918 to 1945 in Berlin.]

A similar incident occurred in Kerbella, which could once again cause hostilities between Persia and Turkey. A Persian dervish had come to Kerbella from Shiraz, claiming to be the twelfth Imam, who, according to the beliefs of a Persian sect, is expected to complete the conversion of the world. He sought to prove his divine mission through a falsified Koran. The followers of this sect recognised him, attacked the dissenters and caused a great bloodbath. Redshib Pasha, governor of Baghdad, had the dervish captured, brought to Baghdad and brought before a court composed by him of Turkish and Persian ulamas. His Koran was recognised as falsified and he was found guilty of blasphemy, which is why the fanatical Redshib Pasha immediately wanted to punish him with death. The Persian ulemas protested most vigorously against this and immediately reported to Constantinople to prevent the dervish's execution. Redshib-Pasha is the same governor of Baghdad who, by the bloody storming of Kerbella, a city sacred to the Persians, a few years ago, was the main cause of the difference between the Porte and Persia, which has not yet been completely settled.
